Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 August 2026

In short: this website has no cookies, no advertising, and no cross-site tracking. We measure page views with a privacy-preserving, cookieless tool that cannot identify you. The only personal data we hold is what you type into a form and send us on purpose.

This policy covers this website, irisedgestudios.com. Our games have their own policies, because they collect different things: see the Pinteza privacy policy for the Pinteza app.

1. Who we are

Iris Edge Studios is the trading name of an independent game developer based in Portugal, and is the data controller for this website. Iris Edge Studios is not a registered company; it is a name used by an individual sole trader. You can reach us for any privacy matter at legal@irisedgestudios.com.

2. What we collect

Contact formThe name, email address and message you submit, plus the topic you select and, if you choose the business topic, the optional scope, timeline and budget range. We use this only to reply to you.
Notification listIf you ask to be told when Cowardly Heroes returns to the stores, we store your email address for that one purpose.
Server logsOur host, Cloudflare, processes your IP address and standard request information to serve the site and protect it from abuse.
Anti-spamOur forms use Cloudflare Turnstile, a privacy-preserving alternative to CAPTCHA that does not track you across websites and does not use advertising cookies.
Audience measurementWe use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and measure how quickly pages load. It is cookieless: it stores nothing on your device, does not fingerprint your browser, and cannot follow you to any other website. It records the page you viewed, the referring page, and general details such as your country, browser and device type. It never records your IP address in a form we can see, and never anything that identifies you personally.
Counting a few actionsWe count a small number of things happening, such as a contact form being sent, a trailer being played, or someone following a link out to itch.io or an app store. We store the name of the action, the page it happened on, the site you arrived from, and your country. We do not store an IP address, a device identifier, a session, or anything that would let us recognise the same person twice. It is a tally, not a profile.

We do not use advertising, behavioural tracking, cross-site tracking, or analytics that identify you. We do not sell, rent or share your information.

3. Cookies

This site sets no cookies for analytics, advertising or tracking, which is why you are not being asked to accept any. Our audience measurement is deliberately cookieless (see §2). Your language choice is remembered using sessionStorage in your own browser, which is cleared when you close the tab and is never sent to us. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie to protect the site.

The Cowardly Heroes trailer is a click-to-play placeholder: no request is made to YouTube, and no YouTube cookie is set, unless you press play. If you do, YouTube's own privacy terms then apply to that playback.

4. Legal basis (EU/EEA & UK)

  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): you chose to send us a message or join a notification list.
  • Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): keeping the site online, secure and free of spam.

5. How long we keep it

  • Contact form messages: up to 24 months, then deleted.
  • Notification list: deleted once the notification has been sent, or on request.
  • Server logs: retained by Cloudflare under its own retention policy.

6. Who processes it

The site is hosted on Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc.), which also provides the database holding form submissions, the anti-spam check, the cookieless audience measurement, and email routing for our addresses. Cloudflare acts as our processor. See Cloudflare's privacy policy. Email you send us is delivered to a Google-operated mailbox. Some processing may take place outside your country, including in the United States, under safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. Your rights

You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability, and you may withdraw consent at any time. Email legal@irisedgestudios.com and we will action it. You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority. In Portugal that is the CNPD.

8. Children

This website is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

9. Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date above. This is the English version and it is the controlling version if a translation differs.
